Mendeley can import PDF files with metadata. The file must contain a DOI in the first two pages
Simply drag & drop files or folders into the open Mendeley window
Note: Scanned pdfs supplied by the CSIRO Document Delivery Service do not have the metadata required to provide a detailed record when imported into Mendeley
1. From the Results page in Discovery, select the item(s) you wish to export and then click the ellipsis at the right hand side and select the 'Export RIS' option
2. Import the saved file using the 'Add new' button on the left side of the User Interface and choose 'Import Library' and then the RIS option
You just need to be viewing an article or a list of references in the browser. This can mean that you're looking at an actual PDF file, an article entry in an online catalog, or even a list of search results. The Mendeley Web Importer will scan the page for metadata, and provide you with a list of the results it finds.
Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari:
The process to add an entry manually into your Library is essentially the same process online or with Mendeley Reference Manager. Click the 'Add new' button, then choose the 'Add entry manually' option and enter the relevant details
