This CSIRO specific guide has information on managing your references using EndNote.

EndNote Online

EndNote Online is the web version of EndNote.

  1. Access EndNote Online with WoS for free via CSIRO's Web of Science subscription or
  2. Access EndNote Online Premium when you sync the contents of your EndNote Desktop library to EndNote Online

How to access

Go directly to myendnoteweb.com to login to your EndNote Online with WoS account using your existing Web of Science login, or click on “Sign up” to create a new account using your CSIRO email address and a unique password.

 

Open the EndNote Desktop library you wish to sync to EndNote Online, and sync the contents of the Library to EndNote Online. Upon initiating sync, you can login to your EndNote Online Premium account at myendnoteweb.com

Important to note: Only sync and share one primary library. Attempting to sync multiple libraries will merge references of both EndNote libraries. Refer to the EndNote Library Sharing Overview webpage for sync expiry information.

Group sharing

Share a group of references with up to 100 EndNote Online with WoS / EndNote Online Premium users. Note that PDF attachments cannot be shared. Refer to the Sharing Methods > Sharing a group webpage for information on how to share a group.

Searching for a reference

  1. Quick Search can be used to find any reference in your EndNote Online library.

Groups

  1. All My References displays every reference in the library.
  2. Unfiled displays any reference in the library that hasn’t been added to a custom group.
  3. Quick list is a “clipboard” area where you can collect references from different groups for the duration of your EndNote Online session. Tick the check box next to individual references, and click on the Copy To Quick List button to add those references to a quick list. Once you log out, the quick list is emptied.
  4. Trash is a holding place for references you have removed from the library but have not yet permanently discarded by emptying the Trash. Click on the checkbox next to individual references in Trash, and click on delete to remove them permanently from the library.
  5. My Groups lists all the custom groups you have created to organise your references.
    To create a custom group, click on the Organize tab, then select Manage My Groups and click on the New Group button.
    To add a reference to a custom group, tick the checkbox next to the reference, and click on the Add to group.... drop down menu.
  6. Groups Shared by Others lists all the groups that others have shared with you.

Sorting your references

  1. Author heading – Click here to sort your EndNote library references alphabetically by author.
  2. Year heading – Click here to sort your EndNote library references chronologically by year of publication.
  3. Title heading– Click here to sort your EndNote library references alphabetically by title.
  4. Sort by drop down menu – click here to sort your references by First Author, Year of publication, Title, Source Title, Times Cited, added to library, or last updated.

Importing references from a database

  1. To import references from a database, click on the Collect tab, and select Import References.
    Select Browse to locate the RIS file you have exported from the database.
    For the Import Option, select the database you have imported the references from.
    In the To: field, select the group you want to add the imported references to and click on Import.

Adding a reference manually

  1. Click on the Collect tab, and select New Reference. Enter in the title, author and other publication details, and click on Save.

Editing and deleting a reference

  1. Click on the title of the reference, then click on the fields you wish to edit and make any changes. Hit the Save button to save the changes. To delete the reference, click on the delete button.

Signing out of EndNote Online

  1. Click on the person icon to sign out of your EndNote Online with WoS / EndNote Online Premium account.
