Via a Discovery search

There are two methods for searching for newspapers in Discovery.

1. Search the Discovery catalogue for a specific newspaper title.

On the results page, select the Online access link located underneath the title and then click on the database name to access the collection.

2. Search the Discovery catalogue for a topic of your choice.

To view a list of newspaper articles from the library's collection, select the Newspapers search option at the bottom of the results list or from the 'refine my results' section under Resource Type. 

To create a topic alert:

• Sign In to Discovery using your CSIRO credentials:

• Select Save query at the top of the screen:

• When prompted, click ‘Turn on notification for this query’ which appears at the top of the screen review and update your email address if appropriate:

• Locate and manage your alerts by clicking the drawing pin icon on the top right of the screen (next to your name):

• Your alerts will appear under Saved Searches and you can turn them off and on by selecting the bell icon:

Via ProQuest Newsstream databases

Search the Australia & New Zealand newsstream database to access leading Australian and New Zealand newspapers containing the latest local, regional and national news or search across US or International sources to read about global news events.

Set up alerts to be notified when newspaper articles matching your search criteria are published.

1. Create a My Research account and sign in.

2. Search for your topic:

3. On the results page, click on 'Save/search alert' on the right of the screen:

4. Click ‘Create alert’ (or ‘Create RSS feed’ if that is your preference):

5. Fill in the form and click 'Create alert':

6. You will now receive alerts when content matching your search is added to the relevant ProQuest database.
