eBooks at CSIRO

Learn how to find and access eBooks, with specific guidance and support for the main eBook formats.

At a glance

CSIRO eBooks are hosted on a range of different publisher platforms such as Springer, Elsevier, Cambridge University Press etc.

The easiest way to access eBooks is to search via Discovery and then select the relevant online access link. 

However, there may be some instances where you want to search a specific eBook collection. A link is included below where it is possible to search directly from the publisher platform.

Access and authentication Access Cambridge Core.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)? DRM free.
As with all electronic resources though, you should observe copyright regulations.
Formats available     PDF, with some also in HTML.
Downloading Yes. PDF chapter downloads. Whole book downloads are unavailable for some titles.
The download option is available from the ToC next to each individual chapter or from the Actions for selected content menu within the record.
Read online Yes. Unlimited read online access.
Print Yes. Print from downloaded content.

Downloading Yes. PDF chapter downloads. 
  • if you are on a book table of contents - select the PDF icon next to each individual chapter you want to download
  • if you are on a chapter page - select the PDF icon at the top of the document
  • for the whole book - select ‘Download all chapters’ in the home page banner. Your book will download as a ZIP file with the chapters as separate PDFs
Read online Yes. Unlimited read online access.
Print Online and offline print is available.

Must access resources via Discovery in order to authenticate the session.

Formats available     PDF, HTML, EPUB. Graphs can be downloaded separately as XLS files.

  • to download the whole book, select the red Adobe PDF icon or the green 'E' icon for EPUB, from the books summary details at the top of the page
  • to download book chapters, select the red Adobe PDF icon from the Table of contents

Print Yes. Print from downloaded content.
